Dear Players and Parents,

Head Coach
Gary Richey

Welcome to another exciting year of Spartan Golf. I am very blessed to be your golf coach for the upcoming season, and look forward to joining you in our crusade for EXCELLENCE. As a coach, my desire is to be a positive role model for our teams. I want you to see that my aim is to bring glory to God in all that I do. Once you join our team you join our family. My prayer is that we will love and encourage each other as good families do.

In time you will grow to realize that your pursuit of being the best you can be is one of the most difficult goals you can strive to achieve, but at the same time one of the most rewarding journeys you will ever know. I will challenge you to grow and improve. You will be tested on the course and off, but know this, whether we win or lose doesn’t matter. The most important thing, really, is how we play the GAME. Never forget, golf is just a game.

The mission of our school is to help you all “grow as Jesus did, in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.” The verse that our team will use as our theme is:

“Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant...he humbled himself and became obedient….” (Philippians 2:5-8)

The Lord has a plan and a purpose for us all. I will commit to strive daily to grow in my walk with the Lord in order to have an impact on the lives of each of you. I pray that you will help us and support us to be the very best we can be. There will be great times and disappointing times. As we learn from these experiences we’ll grow closer to each other and to the Lord. When we finish, we can be proud of ourselves simply because we sacrificed, worked, laughed and fought hard in our mission.

Pray for our team. Pray for our season. Pray for the teams we will compete with. Never take this season lightly. I look forward to getting to know each of you better this year. I’m excited to see what the Lord will do this year as we seek to bring Him glory in all that we do.
